When running your store you should always have the door open looking for great people that will make you and your store successful. You can only go so far if you don’t have a team in place that compliments and supports you.
Always be accepting applications and always be recruiting.
When hiring it’s important to keep in mind how certain personalities will perform for different roles in the store:
Greeter (Zone 1)
Energetic and fun-loving. These are your people that don’t just “meet you” during an introduction. They MEET you and they are focused and make you feel like you are the only thing important to them. They can befriend anyone anywhere and will make people want to walk into your store with the natural energy they exude.
Register and Shipment
Smart and fast-paced tasker. Your associates who are smart, quick-witted, and friendly are your perfect cashiers and shipment people!
- Your cashiers need to be able to understand the Quickbooks POS and follow the Register Policy. They need to be friendly enough to communicate with the customers and make them feel like the items being bought are the best in the store.
- Your shipment people need to be smart, quick, and ready to work! They should have everything unpacked, hung up, checked off the list, sized, and steamed within about 2 hours or so to keep them on track and your payroll under control.
Personal Stylist (Floater)
Stylish and perfect with one-on-one selling. These are your associates that may not be your best greeters, but they still connect and make people feel special. These associates aren’t overly energetic or loud, but they do still make people feel well taken care of and important. Because they are stylish and trendy, combined with their ability to make people feel connected and special, they are perfect for floating around the store and selling clothes all day while working one-on-one with your customers.
